The pumpkins are turning orange,
again because of the stress to the plant.
at this point there is little you can do,
and you probably won`t be able to keep the pumpkins until Oct.
Next time you plant pumpkins,
as the vines grow long,
bury a section of the vine at a node where a leaf comes out.
Just throw a couple shovels full of dirt on top of the vine.
The vine will send out roots here.
Do it every four feet or so if you can.
if something happens to the main stem,
you have a better chance of the vine surviving.
This is especially true if squash vine borers get into the main stem.
