Had the same error message popping up, resulting w/ no sound. Then I noticed the phone must have gotten wet (?), at least it seemed so at the USB connector... so what I did was to use the blowdryer on it gently until I could see no more liquid in there - and voila, problem solved right away! No more message, sound comes back immediately! Ps. be careful not to put the phone under too much heat, best do it gradually and/or using cooler function of the dryer.

If you want to get rid of this that this accessory is not for phone then try using the factory defaults and then restart the phone again.I have the i phone and same ids the problem with me then i hit the factory default of the phone and after that i restarted the phone again and now my i phone is working well.Hope my answer will help you a lot.

I did all the above methods, and I still get the annoying message popping up on my iPhone 4.I`m not convinced it`s dirt or water on or in the connector part of the iPhone. This only began to happen AFTER the initial contact with the Ipod docking station. I also have an iPod touch 4 generation, and after coming in contact with the docking station, the same annoying message is being displayed. The iPod docking station is brand new and clean. I believe this is a re-programming issue between iPhone / iPod and docking stations in general. I wish there was a definitive solution to this most annoying message!
