What they look at more is how much you`re putting down (20% is ideal, they may be willing to work with 10-15%) because people who don`t have any equity in it have a tendency to walk away. They also look at your capacity to repay. That means principal, interest, RE taxes and insurance add up to less than 28% of gross. And not a huge amount of other debt.
