THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME. I HAD 3 BILLS FOR BETWEEN 200.00 AND 1000.00 I WAS MAKING PAYMENTS ON ALL 3 BUT HOSPITAL SENT ME TO COLLECTION. SAYING THEY ONLY BILL ME 3 TIMES THEN THEY DONT CARE AND SEND YOU TO COLLECTION AGENCY. I HAD TRIED THEIR PAYMENT PLAN AND SLREADY HAD A PAYMENT OF 75.00 PER MONTH. NOW THE ONLY WAY TO KEEP IT OUT OF COLLECTION IS TO UP THAT PAYMENT TO 191.00 PER MONTH . SEEMS LIKE A BIG JUMP FOR UNDER 2000.00 IN ADDITIONAL BILLS ADDED. THEY WONT HELP ME ANY OTHER WAY. NICE. CANT AFFORD TO BE SICK.

You cant miss even the single payment before the foreclosures in the Florida state but if you the miss the payment then your house will not yours anymore after sometime.Get three months behind and the procedure starts. It all depends on the person`s place where he resides and his mortgage company that how many mortgage payments a person can miss before bank foreclosure .Generally, if the person miss three payments , the company starts the foreclosure process and send a notice to the person.

In California, bank starts the foreclosure process 90 -120 days after you miss your first payment, but in practical terms the foreclosure process will not begin until you miss your third payment. The non-judicial foreclosure starts with recording a notice of default in day1 after your payment is considered late, then within 10 days you will receive the notice of default and after 3 months, the lender can request the borrower to set a sale date.

If somebody stops making payments, then after three to six months, banks will issue a notice of default giving 30 days notice to contact the bank authorities. If you fail the bank will proceed to foreclose your property. The entire time of foreclosing depends upon the state and area. Whether the bank in question will foreclose on you is at the discretion of the lender. The normal process is to issue you a notice of default after 30 days. Most lenders will give you 3 missed payments (or 90 days) depending on your state before they will initiate foreclosure proceedings. Having said that banks in the US are reluctant to foreclose under current market conditions because they would have to book the loss if they foreclose. This is allowing a lot of US home owners to stay in their homes without paying their mortgages for an extended period before banks are foreclosing. Banks are hoping this down term in housing will end in the near future and make these underwater mortgages whole. It`s a gamble the banks are making that housing will recover but if I was in your shoes I would not consider stopping to pay your mortgage.
