Only if they foreclosed on you.
You have to go into default and then the bank will decide to put it up for auction and it will be purchased by another bank or owner and they will request an occupancy check.
An occupancy check is usually not required if your not foreclosed.
The occupancy check is used to verify multiple things:
Occupied or Vacant 2.
Owner or Tenant 3.
Are you willing to co-operate with the bank in moving voluntarily or for Relocation Assistance.
This way they don`t have to deal with an eviction and can take ownership of their property physically and quickly as possible.
If you see someone snapping photos of your home,
that is also considered an occupancy check and they were asked to only do a "drive by"
