why do some jalapenos turn red and others bought at the same time placed in the same heat just shrivel never turning red?

yes you can but gotta b in a closed container and with the juice it came with or water.

Try not to let them dry out. Room temperature is fine, but keep them away from sources of heat, or they will just dry green. They should start themselves, especially if one or two are already starting to turn yellow or red. If they are all green, place an over ripe tomato next to them ( make sure it`s not mouldy ) and that should start them off turning red. You can use other over ripe fruit too but tomato I find works best. Good luck :)

My Green Pepper plant has about 14 peppers growing. However, the side of the peppers facing away from the stem have turned a pale black. Is this cause for concern?

Habaneros are generally chosen for their intense heat, so they will still be hot at the green stage. Ripen them to red and the heat will increase quite a lot. I personally think red haberneros have a sweeter, richer flavour when they are red, as I find green ones can be a little bitter. I would use either but prefer red. Hope that helps :)
